Show & Tell – Fort Lauderdale

We caught up with one of our PR Account Managers, Karen, on her return from this year’s Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (FLIBS).
Here’s what she had to say:

What did you enjoy most about the show?

“The hospitality of Americans never fails to disappoint me. They always extend such a warm welcome to visitors. I found FLIBS very relaxed and friendly, and communication was easy.”

Was anything different about running a press event at a US show in comparison to a boat show in Europe?

“The enthusiasm and professionalism of the US marine journalists is a joy to behold, particularly when you are involved in a really important product launch for a client. In this case, we were launching Cox Powertrain’s outstanding 300hp diesel outboard engine, the CXO300. I am delighted to say that our press event attracted about 30 US marine journalists so the client was very happy!”

Anything else you took away from the show?

“If you are new to the show, like I was, ask as many of your US contacts as you can for introductions during the show to broaden your network. I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the AIM Marine Group Editor’s Open House the day before the show opened. This not only provided an invaluable opportunity to talk about Saltwater’s clients, but also build a rapport with some really influential US marine editors.”
Following Fort Lauderdale, our PR and media intelligence teams will be at METSTRADE (13 – 15 November) to support our clients exhibiting at this important leisure trade exhibition in Amsterdam.
